SENIOR COPYWRITER + PROOFREADER
MADJ Marketing LLC is seeking a full-time experienced Senior Copywriter and Proofreader with an exceptional eye for detail and mastery across platforms, from multi-media marketing campaigns and press releases to long-form magazine content. You will be the key person ensuring our messaging is crisp, accurate, and compelling. This role calls for a writer who is equally skilled in crafting content that resonates across a multitude of industries and daily management of projects that deliver results.
Key Responsibilities
Write polished, audience-focused copy for websites, social media channels, press releases, and magazine articles across a range of industries including healthcare, education, manufacturing, nonprofit, and consumer brands.
Proofread all written output, ensuring impeccable grammar, tone consistency, and style alignment.
Collaborate with creative and editorial teams to conceptualize ideas, from campaign themes and story angles to special features and social media series.
Manage content flow from brief to publication by setting deadlines, coordinating with designers and editors, managing copy rounds, and ensuring on-time delivery.
Adapt swiftly to shifting priorities and evolving brand voices while thriving under tight deadlines and last-minute changes.
Research industry-specific topics, ensuring accurate, insightful, and contextually relevant copy.
Present copy or content strategies to internal stakeholders or external clients as needed, clearly articulating creative choices and editorial direction.
Support digital marketing efforts by optimizing content for SEO, repurposing magazine features into social media or blog posts, and tracking performance metrics where applicable.
Uphold quality in every deliverable, from polished campaign copy to error-free copy decks and layout-ready proofs.
Desired Qualifications & Traits
Minimum of 5 years of professional writing, editing, or proofreading experience in marketing, agency, or publishing roles. New grads with a very strong portfolio will also be considered.
Proven versatility and ability to shift tone for website, social media, press media, and long-form editorial.
Highly organized, with strong project-management skills and the ability to juggle multiple deliverables and deadlines with precision.
Detail-oriented, ensuring accuracy and maintaining consistent brand voice across diverse content.
Excellent research ability, with the capacity to write with authority across various industries and topics.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with comfort in coordinating with clients, senior administration, and designers.
Self-motivated, proactive, and flexible with the ability to adjust to evolving briefs and organizational needs.
Remote-friendly mindset, with availability for occasional in-person meetings or shoots as required by the agency or publication schedule. The ideal candidate will be local to Berks County with an extended knowledge of the area to be able to write stories and content for local clients and magazines our affiliate publishing company produces.
HEALTH INSURANCE
MADJ Marketing currently does not offer a health benefits program. As we continue to grow, the agency will continually look at options and offer health insurance in the future.
RETIREMENT PLAN
MADJ Marketing does offer a 401k retirement plan with company match for all employees interested in participating in the plan and who meet the criteria to participate. Inquire for more information if needed.
VACATION AND SICK/PERSONAL TIME
MADJ employees are provide with 2 Weeks (10 Paid Vacation Days) beginning 6-months after their hire date. An additional 5 Paid Vacation Days are provided at the start of your third year of employment. Additionally, new employees are provided with 24 hours paid sick/personal days per year (available immediately upon your start date).
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The current MADJ model includes working remotely from home full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.. That said, the majority of client projects will be local to the Berks County, PA, area so we encourage all applicants to be local.
